Teacher Training WG Accepts “Teacher Training Program for the Implementation of Occupational/Qualification Standards” to be held this autumn

The Manual for the Implementation of Occupational/Qualification Standards in BiH Study Programs was presented at the second meeting of the Education for Employment in BiH project’s Teacher Training Working Group (WG), which was held in Banja Luka on June 17, 2022.

After discussing the presented Manual, the WG members agreed that the Manual, in draft form, will be used for teacher training to implement occupational/qualification standards in teacher education study programs. It was also agreed that the final version of the Manual would be completed and published following the trainings.

At the meeting in Banja Luka, the Teacher Training Program for the implementation of occupational/qualification standards in teaching study programs was presented, as well as the Review of received nominations of study programs that will be revised and developed, and will serve as a basis for teacher training.

The WG members present agreed to the proposed Training Program, which will adhere to the Manual’s content and will be delivered over three two-day workshops from September to December 2022. The nomination and selection of study programs will be completed by the end of June, while the list of selected programs and teachers will be finalized in July.

In order to improve the reform of teachers’ education in BiH, the Education for Employment in BiH project focuses on establishing a teacher training model that would be a key reference point for the development of study programmes based on learning outcomes. The Teacher Training WG is composed of representatives of higher education institutions, competent ministries, and pedagogical institutes.

At its previous meeting in April of this year, the WG for Teacher Training defined its target group, the way of using standards, documents and materials that will be developed during the project, as well as the type and methods of teacher training at universities that will enable them to develop study programmes based on learning outcomes.

In order to overcome the high unemployment rate and a huge mismatch of the education and training systems with the demands of the labour market, the EU funded project “Education for Employment, BiH” aims to produce human resources in line with the labour market needs in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The project assists BiH authorities in improving capacity and structure for planning the educational process and quality of educational outcomes.
