Following the completion of the BiH Career Orientation Analysis, the E4E Project’s Career Guidance Working Group has taken on a new and challenging task – to produce a Revised Career Guidance Concept in BiH. This document will be used not only to design strategies for future career guidance development in the country, but also in the activities that will enable implementation of the Concept itself (such as trainings, manuals, etc.).

The design of the Revised Concept was the main topic of the fifth Career Guidance Working Group meeting, held in Sarajevo on February 3 and 4, 2022.
At this meeting, it was determined that the Revised Career Guidance Concept will enable the acquisition of career management skills for both young people and adults, and it will also focus on monitoring labor market needs.
It was confirmed that in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the term “professional orientation” refers to work in schools, whereas for working with other target groups, different terms are used, with some ambiguity. As a result, the Working Group proposed that, in accordance with the EU member states’ agreement, the project uses the term “career guidance” in the context of “lifelong career guidance”, while the term “professional orientation” will be used as before, for work in schools.
Lifelong learning is an integral part of life in modern societies, including in BiH. Rapid changes in the economy, digital technology and the labor market make it necessary to develop career guidance for all age groups, while individuals must constantly acquire new knowledge and skills.
In order to overcome the high unemployment rate and a huge mismatch of the education and training systems with the demands of the labour market, the EU funded project “Education for Employment, BiH” aims to produce human resources in line with the labour market needs in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The project will assist BiH authorities in improving capacity and structure for planning the educational process and quality of educational outcomes.
