The Working Group (WG) for Career Guidance of the Education for Employment Project in BiH continues with its activities on the reform of the career guidance model in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

At a two-day meeting held in Banja Luka in mid-November, members of this WG discussed modernizing the concept of career guidance. This approach encompasses a number of factors, from partner cooperation at the level of ministries and implementing institutions (schools, employment services), strategic approach to the development of career guidance and its methods, to the organization of career guidance in schools and the development of a training system for the professional staff who provide it.
When it comes to building a modernized model of career guidance in BiH, this WG follows the EU Guidelines for Lifelong Career Guidance and the application of best practices in the EU member states.
Lifelong learning is an integral part of life in modern societies, including BiH itself. Rapid changes in the economy, digital technology and the labor market make it necessary to develop career guidance for all age groups, while individuals must constantly acquire new knowledge and skills.
In order to overcome the high unemployment rate and a huge mismatch of the education and training systems with the demands of the labour market, the EU funded project “Education for Employment, BiH” aims to produce human resources in line with the labour market needs in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The project assists BiH authorities in improving capacity and structure for planning the educational process and quality of educational outcomes.
