Improving Lifelong Learning in BiH: Career Guidance Working Group started its activities

The Working Group (WG) for Career Guidance began its work on August 26 and 27 in Sarajevo, as part of the EU project “Education for Employment (E4E) in BiH”. In the coming period, this WG’s activities will be mainly related to the project component “Transition from education to work”.

During the initial meeting, the WG members defined the work plan for the planned modernization of career guidance and contributed to the “Analysis of career guidance in BiH -2021”, which will provide a detailed overview of the current state of career guidance in BiH.

Lifelong learning has become a reality for many citizens in EU member states, as well as in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Rapid changes in economics, digital technology, and the labour market necessitate the development of career guidance for all age groups, including students and adults, whether or not they are employed. Continuous changes require not only new knowledge and skills from individuals, but also a modernized and methodologically improved professional orientation, which should assist citizens in managing their own careers.

In addition to the meetings of the WG for Career Orientation in August, the WG for Higher Education continued to operate within the project activities, while the WG for Digital and Entrepreneurial Competencies and the WG for External Exams are scheduled to begin their activities in September.

In order to overcome the high unemployment rate and a huge mismatch of the education and training systems with the demands of the labour market, the EU funded project “Education for Employment, BiH” aims to produce human resources in line with the labour market needs in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The project will assist BiH authorities in improving capacity and structure for planning the educational process and quality of educational outcomes.
