Development of a modernized model of career guidance in BiH continues

The Working Group (WG) for Career Guidance continued with the development of a framework model for career guidance in Bosnia and Herzegovina. On December 14th and 15th, the members of this WG held their fourth workshop in Mostar.

The WG for Career Guidance acts in several directions that include developing career guidance strategies, action plans, career centers/career corners, and trainings. These frameworks will be developed to easily adapt to the labor market changes, the professional progress, and the peculiarities of administrative units in BiH.

As part of its previous activities, this WG developed an “Analysis of Career Orientation in BiH for 2021”, which provides detailed information about the current state of career orientation in BiH and helps in defining future tasks.

In developing a modernized model of career guidance in BiH, this WG follows the EU Guidelines for Lifelong Career Guidance and the application of best practices in the EU member states. Lifelong learning is an integral part of life in modern societies. Rapid changes in the economy, digital technology and the labor market make it necessary to develop career guidance for all age groups, as individuals are constantly required to acquire new knowledge and skills.

In order to overcome the high unemployment rate and a huge mismatch of the education and training systems with the demands of the labour market, the EU funded project “Education for Employment, BiH” aims to produce human resources in line with the labour market needs in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The project will assist BiH authorities in improving capacity and structure for planning the educational process and quality of educational outcomes.
